We spend the first part of the morning unpacking lifejackets, caps, goggles, fins, swim trunks, kickboards and children's books. The international volunteers came with or sent over all of these materials that we are going to use and teach and leave here with our students so the program can be sustainable.

Many people have asked about the whole story from my volunteer water safety outreach trip to Uganda.
What are Uganda do?
The end of the summer is always bittersweet for me. As kids go back to school, I transition into fall with a fresh perspective thinking, "What's next? Who needs my skills?" This year, as I watch Hurricanes Harvey and Irma on their path of destruction, I feel a tug at my heart strings. Like so many others, I'm not sure how to help. I want to do something, but I'm not sure what. It pains me to see water causing so much damage and taking lives.

Drowning is Preventable
Swimming is a lifelong, lifesaving skill, so take it seriously. As you familiarize your children with new skills, don’t forget to go back and review what they have already learned. Repetition is important in the learning process. The more you practice, the easier and more natural it becomes, so you don’t have to consciously think about it.
